The Pattaya Coffee 30.
Thirty cafes on the shortlist. Zero scorecards filed. The research phase is closed; the anonymous audit wave is what comes next — and it will move names up, down, and off this page without apology.
Research is done. Cups are not.
Every name below earned a file by surviving cross-source research — not by flattering us, not by buying a line on a listicle, not by having the prettiest Instagram. Sixteen pages are published as research previews: the evidence is on the record, the doubt is on the record, and the order reflects signal strength until someone actually drinks the coffee twice.
Fourteen more sit in the lower tier — research candidates with thinner corroboration, bakery-first formats, chain-ownership questions, or leads we are not yet willing to call recommendations. They are on the map because readers will ask about them. They may leave after one visit. That is a successful outcome.
When the audit runs, we walk in anonymous, pay menu price, score craft / consistency / value / return on a 48-point rubric, and publish what we find. Cafes that comp a drink get cash left on the counter. Cafes that perform only for reviewers get caught on the second visit. Read the method on /standards before you treat any rank here as gospel.
The tiers below are provisional architecture, not verdicts. Top contenders (#01–05) survived the harshest cross-check. Strong candidates (#06–16) are published previews — serious leads, still unvisited under our rubric. The research tier (#17–30) is where we keep the doubt visible: verify tags, dashed borders, pages that argue against their own inclusion as often as for it.
Filter by neighbourhood, vibe, or bean source. Plot all thirty on the map. Compare any two side-by-side. Technical details live on the colophon and brand kit. The live audit schedule is on /now — updated weekly while editors are in town.
Top contenders — strongest sourcing.
The five loudest signals in cross-source research — not the five best cups tasted by our editors yet. Albatross has the deepest file; the other four ship shorter previews until audits catch up.
Strong candidates — good signal.
Published previews — not final ranks. Every cafe here has a full research file and a provisional order line; none has a filed scorecard. The audit can promote a #12 above a #8, or strike a name off entirely.

Worth checking — not a recommendation.
Fourteen files in this tier are deliberately skeptical. Several may never earn a scorecard. If you are planning a coffee crawl, start in the tiers above — come here when you want to see what the research flagged and what the audit has not yet killed.
